Most people know that NASCAR is a sport where the drivers race around a track. Racing around a track burns a lot of fuel, which inevitably puts pollution in the air. This is a major problem because NASCAR isn’t going to end anytime soon, and neither is pollution unless we clean up our act. NASCAR has begun programs to kick start the reduction of pollution. Instead of throwing things out they have begun recycling and reusing them. NASCAR has also started reducing their use energy buy installing windmills and solar panels to generate their own power. Lastly NASCAR has begun using ethanol which is more efficient and burns cleaner. NASCAR has started these programs to reduce the amount of pollution and save the earth, but they can’t do it alone. NASCAR needs our help to recycle things instead of throwing them away.
Although motorsports pollute the earth, they do positive things in other aspects of human life. Motorsports promote recycling and reducing energy use and producing their own electricity in an environmentally friendly way. NASCAR uses solar panels and windmills to produce electricity. These ways produce enough electricity to power the whole stadium and some tracks produce enough to power surrounding houses, too. NASCAR influences the viewers to recycle and think more about what they are doing to impact the earth.
Every aspect of NASCAR has been refined and thoroughly thought about how it could be cleaner and greener. The research done and presented in this website shows how NASCAR has cleaned up their act with planting trees, recycling all waste from the cars and fans. This also shows how NASCAR is powering the cars in a cleaner way and the history of how they have powered the cars in the past to. This paper also includes the history of how the cars have been powered in the past to show that we have come a long way to pollute less. Even though we still pollute a lot its better then it was in the past. Engineers are determined to make a more efficient, and a solution that won’t be bad for the environment. The engineers are on the right track with ethanol because it pollutes less and is naturally grown.
All in all NASCAR still pollutes a lot, but show they are aware of how much they are polluting, and are taking steps to reduce how much they pollute. Some things they are doing like: using windmills and solar panels, are not just being used by NASCAR. These solutions are also being used by major corporations to get the world in a greener state of mind. NASCAR is also reducing their use of fossil fuels and starting to use ethanol, which is more efficient and cleaner. Ethanol is beginning to be used in everyday cars and sold at gas stations. Along with growing corn to make ethanol, NASCAR is planting 10 trees for every restart during the race. This is going to help clean the air pollution that is produced by burning the ethanol fuel in the cars. Lastly NASCAR is recycling more than they are making, because they are not only recycling their garbage, but their fans garbage, and spreading awareness to recycle.
